Privacy policy
How we handle your personal information, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Last updated 22 October 2026.
1. Who we are
The responsible party for your personal information is Women's Pride Beauty Salon, 92 Arum Road, Table View, Cape Town, 7439. Phone 071 752 8043, email bookings@womenspride.co.za.
Our Information Officer is the owner of Women's Pride Beauty Salon. Contact them at bookings@womenspride.co.za for any privacy question or request.
2. What personal information we collect
We only collect what you choose to give us when you book or contact us:
- your name and cell number (needed to confirm your booking);
- your email address (optional);
- the services, date and time you request, and any notes you add (for example nail shape or colour);
- the time you gave consent and the version of this policy you agreed to.
Please do not put health or other sensitive details in your booking notes. We do not need them to book you.
If you message us on WhatsApp or call us, we also see the number you contact us from and what you tell us.
3. Why we use it, and our basis for doing so
We use your information only to:
- receive, confirm, change or cancel your appointment, and contact you about it;
- keep a record of your bookings;
- answer your questions;
- meet our legal obligations.
We rely on your consent (the tick box on our booking form) and on the fact that processing is needed to take steps at your request to provide a service to you. You may withdraw consent at any time (see section 9).
We do not use your information for marketing, we do not sell it, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
4. Who we share it with
We share your information only with service providers (operators) who handle it for us, and only as needed:
- Formspree (formspree.io) delivers the booking form to our email inbox.
- WhatsApp (Meta) carries the message if you choose to book on WhatsApp.
- Our email provider stores the booking emails we receive.
- Google provides the map, if you load it (see section 7).
- Our website host serves this website to you.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
5. Sending information outside South Africa
Some of these providers (such as Formspree, WhatsApp and Google) store or process information in other countries. By giving your consent on the booking form, you agree to your information being sent to them for the purposes above. We only use providers that apply protection for personal information.
6. How long we keep it
We keep booking details only as long as needed to manage your appointments, and for up to 12 months afterwards, after which we delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
7. Cookies, local storage and third parties
This website does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. It stores one small item in your browser (local storage) to remember your privacy choice. It is not shared with anyone.
Google Maps is only loaded when you click "Show map", or if you accepted optional services in our privacy notice. Loading it sends your IP address to Google, which may set its own cookies. You can change your choice at any time with "Privacy & cookie settings" in the footer. Links to Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Google are ordinary links: those services only receive information once you open them.
8. How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe: the website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, booking emails go to a password-protected inbox that only authorised staff use, and we only collect what we need. If we ever become aware that your information has been accessed without authority, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
9. Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us, at any time and free of charge for simple requests, to:
- confirm whether we hold your personal information and give you a copy;
- correct information that is inaccurate or out of date;
- delete or destroy information we no longer need or are not allowed to keep;
- stop using your information (object), or withdraw your consent. This does not affect past processing, and we may not be able to take your booking without it.
To make a request, email bookings@womenspride.co.za with the subject "POPIA request" and your name and cell number so we can find your details. We may ask you to prove who you are, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
10. Children
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If a parent or guardian books for a child, they confirm they have the authority to consent for the child.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za, email complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Policy version: 2026-10-22.
